Home Improvement Mile

Check out Kennebunk's Home Improvement Mile

KENNEBUNK — For years businesses along Route 1 south of downtown Kennebunk have served the home-improvement needs of area contractors, homeowners and anyone in need of lumber, paint, landscaping and florals, custom blinds, fencing, tile and stonework, awnings, home furnishing and more. As of Friday, the milestretch of Route 1 from Deering Lumber to Habitat for Humanity's ReStore will be officially known as Kennebunk's Home Improvement Mile.
In celebration, the 22 participating businesses will be holding open houses at their respective storefronts on Friday and Saturday, complete with an official ribbon-cutting on Friday, Sept. 23. Special yellow  "Home Improvement Mile" balloons will mark the locations, and an official brochure includes the names, addresses, numbers and a description of every business.
In partnership with Route 1 South businesses, along with the Town of Kennebunk, the Kennebunk-Kennebunkport- Arundel Chamber of Commerce has been working on a marketing campaign to establish the Home Improvement Mile as a regional destination for residential and commercial home improvement. Printing new brochure was made possible by five sponsors, Blue Rock Tile & Design, Bowley Builders, Cloth Interiors, Hancock Lumber and SmartHome Solutions.
